General
Just what is a sample sale?
Sample sales are events that take place in often temporary locations for a few days or less.
Sometimes you’ll brave super long lines or limited sizing.
Other times they’ll have communal dressing rooms or no dressing rooms at all.
All of which may not seem too bad when you consider the upside: loads and loads of designer clothing, shoes, jewelry, or handbags up to 80% off retail pricing.
So what’s an app?
An app is a software program that you install on your computer or smart phone. We now have the Sample Sale Siren app ready for download at the Apple App Store for shoppers with an Apple iPhone or an iPod Touch:
The Sample Sale Siren app gets you exclusive online sample sale listings and you also get real time, real world sample sales from all around the world, including cities in:
- the United States
- the United Kingdom
- Canada
- Australia
- Ireland
- New Zealand
- and we’re starting to cover some sales in Europe and Asia too!
iPhone App
I downloaded the Sample Sale Siren iPhone App and when I’m trying to read a sample sale’s description in the app, there seems to be more text but the screen cuts it off. How can I see the rest of the description?
- From the sample sale listings page, click on the sale you’d like to view.
- Once you’re on the page with all the sample sale’s details, use your finger to scroll through all the details.
- If the sample sale has a long description, use your finger to scroll through the description text. That white description area is scrollable, too.
I downloaded the Sample Sale iPhone app but now I only see old sample sales but not newer ones?
The app updates itself with all the new sales each time you open it, so it sounds like the app is still running in the background and not fully closed. You’ll hear the 3 welcome tones each time you open the app so if you’re not hearing those tones, you’re simply bringing the app up from the background without fully restarting it. To close and restart the app:
- Double click the Home button. That’s the big circular button on the face of your iPhone below the screen.
- You’ll notice that a task bar will pop up at the bottom of your iPhone screen showing you the icons for all your open apps. Find the Sample Sale Siren icon. You may have use your finger to scroll to the right or left since the taskbar will only show 4 icons at a time.
- Once you’ve found the Sample Sale Siren app icon in this task bar, hold your finger down on its icon until all the icons start shaking and a red minus sign appears on the top left hand corner of each icon.
- Click on the icon’s red minus sign to close the app.
- Double click the Home button to close the the task bar and return to the Home screen where you normally find your Sample Sale Siren icon.
- Restart the Sample Sale Siren app by clicking on its icon. This time the Sample Sale Siren app will start with the 3 welcome tones and now displays the most up to date list of the latest sample sales.
Advertising
I’m holding a sample sale and would like to advertise. How do I do that?
Do let us know when and where your sale is happening, along with the brands you have on sale and the price points and discounts you’re providing. If your sample sale is a good fit with our audience, we may post it.
We would like to advertise with you or become a sponsor. What should we do?
