I’m not much of a stickler for time and can see the sensibility of a delayed arrival, especially when it comes to a casual party that I didn’t really want to go to anyway.

While I was in my car, patiently waiting for my BFF as she touched up her lip gloss for the 13th time, that perfect dress that was destined for my closet was snatched up by some other lucky soul. As my BFF and I roll into the parking lot only to find it full, the dress that I was supposed to be wearing on my hot date next week is being tried on by that other girl.
And as we stroll into the sample sale, fashionably late, that freak’em dress that really was meant to be mine had instead passed me by inside the other girl’s shopping bag as she swung it past me on her way out. Ouch.
She, of course, fell in love with it. During the course of the sale I, eventually, would find that same perfect dress in that same perfect color, but they – of course – had run out of my size.
Sample sales are notorious for having limited stock and true sample sales will have some one of a kind pieces that never went into production. Scarcity is the name of the game and the early bird truly gets the worm.
So arrive early and when you see something you think you even marginally like, you might want to pounce and grab it! You can always put it back on the rack if you do change your mind.
But if you dilly dally, that perfect dress may not be waiting for you after you come back from the fitting room…only to be seen again on that other girl as she saunters past you in the middle of next week’s dinner date.
